1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Supertext (“we”, “us”). We're glad you're here. These Terms of Service explain how our messaging service works and what we can expect from each other.
We've written this in plain language because we believe you shouldn't need a law degree to understand the terms when using the service. If you have questions after reading this, we're always here to help.
By creating an account, opening our app, sending a message, joining a group, or using any part of the service, you agree to these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and Community Guidelines.
If you do not agree, please do not use Supertext.
These terms apply to all users, including organisations and community administrators.
2. What Supertext Is
Who we are: Supertext (SMSgrupp i Stockholm AB), a Swedish company providing group messaging services.
What we offer: A messaging service where you can create private groups (invite-only), get a shared phone number, and communicate with your group members. Messages sent to your group number are automatically forwarded to everyone in the group. In addition Supertext have public communities (open or discoverable)
Private groups are controlled by users. Public communities follow our Community Guidelines and EU Digital Services Act (DSA) rules.
What it costs: We don't charge fees for our service, instead you will receive ads. If you don’t want to receive ads, you can purchase the Premium non-ads version. When sending messages over SMS you'll only pay your mobile operator's standard SMS/MMS rates. If you're using the SMS service while traveling outside Sweden, international rates may apply based on your operator's pricing.
3. Minimum age
You must be at least 13 years old to use Supertext or such greater age required in your country or territory. If you are under 18, please ask your parent or guardian to read these Terms with you.
4. Your Account and Responsibilities
We want Supertext to be a positive place for everyone.
You agree to:
- Treat other users with respect.
- Keep your login credentials secure.
- Use the service for its intended purpose.
- Use the service lawfully
- Comply with our Community Guidelines
You agree not to:
- Violate laws or regulations
- Share illegal content, hate speech, threats, or defamation
- Conduct fraud, or impersonation
- Use the service to spam or abuse others.
- Spread viruses or malicious software.
- Harm minors
- Infringe intellectual property
- Interfere with the security or integrity of the service
- Attempt unauthorised access or reverse engineering
- Try to access other users' accounts.
You are responsible for activity on your account.
5. Your Content & Rights
You retain the rights to any content you create.
To operate Supertext, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, transmit, display, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of providing the service.
We do not sell your content to advertisers or third parties.
6. Moderation & Public Communities (DSA Compliance)
For public communities, we may:
- Remove or restrict content
- Suspend accounts
- Limit visibility or access
- Forward illegal content to authorities when required
- Respond to reports under the DSA
- Provide reasons for moderation decisions
Appeals can be submitted directly in the app.
Private groups are not monitored except as required by law or to investigate severe abuse.
7. Service Availability and Updates
Supertext is provided “as-is” and “as available”.
We do not guarantee:
- uninterrupted availability
- error-free operation
- message delivery
- delivery to all recipients
- permanent storage of content
- SMS delivery (which depends on mobile operators)
8. Updates, Changes & Discontinuation
We may add, modify, or remove features at any time.
We may discontinue parts of the service with reasonable notice.
If a change significantly affects your rights, we will notify you in advance.
Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.
9. Advertising and Cookies
To keep Supertext free to use, the service is supported by advertising.
(If you prefer not to see ads, you can purchase an ad-free version of Supertext.)
Our goal is to show ads that are useful and relevant to the community you are part of, for example, sports-related offers in a sports group or student discounts in a university community. We think this gives a better experience than ads based on you as an individual, or sending random ads, that usually will result in a spammy feeling, and is something we want to avoid.
To achieve this, Supertext uses automated technology to understand the general context of a group or community. This process is fully automated and focuses on the group as a whole, not on individual users. The technology does not identify, profile, or track individuals.
We do not read messages, and we never share message content with advertisers. Only a broad, non-identifiable category (such as “sports” or “education”) is used for ad selection.
We may share device identifiers and contextual information with advertising partners to deliver ads and measure their performance.

10. Third-Party Services
Supertext relies on third-party providers (e.g., SMS gateways, cloud hosting, analytics, and advertising networks).
We are not responsible for failures or conduct of third parties we do not control.
11. Global Operations & International Data Transfers
Supertext stores personal data primarily within the European Union.
However, certain technical operations (such as cloud hosting, analytics, or advertising delivery) may involve transfers outside the EU/EEA.
When this happens, we use approved safeguards such as:
- EU–US Data Privacy Framework
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)
- Supplementary technical and organisational protections
By using the service, you acknowledge these international data transfers.
12. Data Protection and Privacy Rights
Our processing of personal data follows:
- GDPR
- Swedish Data Protection Act
- ePrivacy Directive
- DSA transparency requirements

13. Liability and Warranty Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
13.1 No Warranty
Supertext is provided without warranties of any kind.
13.2 No assurance of availability or delivery
Supertext is not liable for:
- delays, failed delivery, or errors in message transmission
- technical interruptions or outages
- loss of data
13.3 No liability for user-generated content
We are not responsible for content posted by users in private or public groups.
13.4 Limitations
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- indirect or consequential damages
- loss of data, profits, or business
- service interruptions or delays
- message delivery failures
- decisions made based on information in Supertext
- actions taken to comply with the law
- spam, fraud, or misuse by other users
13.5 Statutory Consumer Rights
Nothing in these terms limits:
- your mandatory consumer rights
- liability for personal injury
- liability for intentional wrongdoing or gross negligence
our obligations under GDPR
14. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts, groups or communities to:
- comply with law
- respond to illegal, abusive, or harmful conduct
- prevent fraud or technical abuse
- address violations of these terms
- protect operational integrity
- enforce these Terms
We may retain certain data as required by law or to fulfil our obligations.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by Swedish law.Consumers may use:
- ARN (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden)
- EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform
- Swedish general courts
We will comply with mandatory consumer protection laws.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. If updates materially affect your rights, we will notify you in advance via app notification, SMS, or email.
Continued use of Supertext after changes constitutes acceptance.
